David Albert Charles Armstrong-Jones, 2nd Earl of Snowdon, is a nephew and godson of the Queen. He was born on 3 November 1961 to Princess Margaret and her husband Antony Armstrong-Jones, 1st Earl of Snowdon. Formerly Viscount Linley, he succeeded to the earldom in 2017 upon the death of his father.
He was educated at Millbrook House School in Oxfordshire and Bedales, where he developed a passion for craft. He subsequently studied furniture making at Parnham House in Dorset.
Upon graduating, the Earl of Snowdon set up his own workshop and went on to found David Linley Furniture Ltd, now Linley, in 1985. He has written numerous books and delivered lectures on furniture and interior design around the world.
On 8 October 1993, he married the Hon Serena Alleyne Stanhope, daughter of Viscount Petersham (later the 12th Earl of Harrington). They have two children, Charles Patrick Inigo Armstrong-Jones, Viscount Linley, and Lady Margarita Elizabeth Rose Alleyne Armstrong-Jones, who was a bridesmaid at the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
The Earl and Countess of Snowdon have residences in Chelsea, Gloucestershire and Provence. They separated in February 2020.
