NOTE: Lord Downpatrick (only son of Earl of St Andrews), Lord Nicholas Windsor (younger son of the Duke of Kent) and Lady Marina-Charlotte Windsor (elder daughter of Earl of St Andrews) have converted to Roman Catholicism and have lost their places in the Line of Succession to The Throne.

The children of Lord Nicholas have all been baptised into the Catholic Church; their place in the Line of Succession will be reassessed once they turn 18 years of age.

The Succession to the Crown Act 2013 (which finally came into force March 2015) provides that male issue in the Line of Succession born on or after 28th October 2011 will no longer be given precedence over their older sisters (thus Tane Lewis, Rufus Gilman and Prince Louis all follow their older sisters). This same Act also ended the provision which disqualified those who marry Roman Catholics, from the line of succession.

On 10 March 2023, Buckingham Palace announced that Prince Edward, The Earl of Wessex and Forfar, was to be created Duke of Edinburgh and amended their website accordingly to show this change. At the same time they updated the Line of Succession to show that his son, James, Viscount Severn, was now James, Earl of Wessex. This latter change is unusual but we have followed the Palace's lead and will continue to do so unless they decide otherwise.
